Looking for a special gift for your loved ones or for yourself?

"Doc, Hank and Isla” - oil on canvas, 18 x 24 inch, 2020, commission

Commissioned paintings are unique gifts that will last for generations. Be it a depiction of your loyal dog, playful cat, a landscape of a beautiful place where you’ve had great memories, a still life containing objects or flowers that have personal significance to you or your loved ones, I can help bring them to life!

How to commission an oil painting?

  1. Choose a photograph.

It’s important for the photograph to be clear ( not blurry), when zoomed in it should show details as those are the ones that will help me add depth to the finished painting. If you have multiple photographs and aren’t sure which one to choose, we can discuss it together.

Click here for a guide on how to take pictures of your furry pet. If you need help taking pictures of the subject you want painted ( pet, house, garden etc.), we can set up a meeting and I will take the pictures for you. Traveling costs may apply.

4. Progress and Updates

The timeline for a painting’s completion can vary between a few weeks to 3 months depending on the size of the painting, the complexity of it and the schedule availability.

I will create a preliminary sketch or color study before beginning the commissioned work and email it to you. This is the stage at which changes in composition are to be made.

I will then begin the painting, using the finest paints and materials (Michael Harding oil paint on Ampersand Gessobord panels, cradled) to ensure that the painting will be of heirloom quality. If desired, you can receive photos of the progress.

When the painting is complete you will receive a few digital photographs for your approval. At this point, you can request small adjustments that don’t require big compositional changes.

If you would like to be surprised by opening the painting in person without receiving photographs, just let me know!

After the painting is dry which can take a few days, it will be ready for varnish and delivery! A use a satin varnish by default, if you prefer glossy varnish, please let me know! The layer of varnish will protect the painting and will keep the colors vibrant.

The painting will be delivered with a certificate of authenticity.

The delivery can be done in person on Martha’s Vineyard or shipped nationally and internationally. Shipping fees are not included.

Looking forward to create a meaningful painting for you!
